After weeks of being a very busy bee, visiting friends, trips to Wembley, Judo sessions, running Race for life and an evening with Robbie. We finally made it to one of our favourite holiday destinations, Fuerteventura.

Our first day was rather long, as Hubby had booked us on a 6am flight! This was fine for me, but waking up at 3am was not quite so easy for him. This said, he did ‘fumble’ straight out of bed upon hearing his first alarm and he even managed a little smile!

After what seemed like an eternity in the queue at the check in desk and an extremely rushed breakfast at J D Wetherspoon, we were finally seated on the plane, ready for take off.

A touch over three and a half hours later, we landed in Puerto del Rosario and jumped into our hire car for the short journey to our much-anticipated week of R&R in Corralejo.

Corralejo, of all the places I have been lucky enough to visit, is my second favourite place. I have been here 7 times now, Hubby has been 8. My favourite is Barbados, but that’s obviously a little more pricey and, a bit far to go for just a week! So we settled in our apartment within minutes, changed and headed straight for the beach that bordered the apartments.

The week for me was to be an extremely lazy one. I basically spent the week sunbathing, shopping, eating, drinking & sleeping! Not once did we turn the TV on, the socket was needed for the fan! It was also utterly refreshing not having to compete with my Hubby’s iPad for his attention! I only went surfing with him once and apart from going back to the room now and then to cool down, I barely moved unless it was absolutely necessary!

Uncharacteristically, I managed to get myself drunk on Pina Colada’s & Sangria every single night, but more impressively, Hubby and I, did not have one single crossed word, not one, all week. I for one am pretty sure that after 20 years together, ‘this aint normal!’ It was wonderful. We had the most relaxing holiday, ate the most delicious food, we laughed, talked, got tipsy together and we did all of it without either of us rolling our eyes or me tutting at my Hubby once, not once! Brilliant! Neither of us wanted to leave and we can’t wait to go back…
