I had a Carrie Bradshaw moment this morning, unfortunately not because I have her wardrobe, her Louboutins or Manolos, oh my goodness I wish! No, when she confesses to the sales assistant, that she’s been cheating on fashion with furniture in Sex & The City The Movie.
We are currently in the process of moving house. In fact, we are buying a house even though ours hasn’t sold yet. In a way, this makes the ‘buying of the property’ far more straight forward. Financially, it’s a potential nightmare!!
Hence, the purchasing of new clothes or the indulgence of my much-needed quarterly boost of Botox are going to have to wait for a while.
The odd thing is, I am completely not bothered, as the house we are buying is just perfect in every possible way. Well, a 22-year-old barn conversion may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it offers us everything we could possible wish for from the huge garage for hubby and the gigantic timber summer-house that we will convert into a gym, right down to the gorgeous acre of garden lined by the most gorgeous trees. It’s not too big, just three bedrooms but the landing literally blows me away each time I see it with the vaulted ceiling and solid oak beams.
We are possible a month or two away from moving in but now, it is all I can think about. We have been in our current home since the kids were tiny so this really is a new chapter for us all and one which I am dying to turn the first page of. I adore buying new clothes, but they don’t last forever. This house will be our home for a very long time. So just this once, forgive me clothes, because I have found something else to spend my pennies on 🙂
