On the 16th April my Hubby went on holiday with his best buddy. A week after he came home, it was my turn with my best friend for a chilled girly holiday. After a few days, one of my oldest friends invited me out with her and another friend from our school days, this would be the night after I was due to arrive home.
Initially I had some reservations as My hubby would be home from racing on the evening that I was due to be out. We would have been apart for 9 days by this time, but after mentioning it to him, he was completely fine with me seeing the girls. He simply said “I will still be here when you get home.”
It was two years since we had all been together. The two of them see one another regularly, despite one living in Windsor and the other in Cheshire, they have been best friends for 37 years. I’ve known them both for around 30. I don’t see them that often, but once together, it feels like no time has passed at all. They are still the same beautiful girls in my eyes that they have always been. Maybe we have Facebook to thank for keeping us in the loop with one another’s lives. Or maybe that’s just the way it is when you make real friends from such a young age. You just fall right back in, as if you see them all the time.
The friends you make when you’re a child, despite distance, despite lives going in opposite directions, will probably be your friends, when you need them, for the rest of your life.
