PPM Motorsport was born from the passion of two life long friends & business partners, my hubby Andy & his bff, Brett. They own a sponsored BMW racing car and have just completed their first ever race with 750 Motor Club.
The day started well with the boys qualifying in pole position after fifteen minutes each of driving. What an amazing start to their season. As novices to competitive racing, qualifying on pole was almost unimaginable.
At the end of qualifying though they had a split fuel line so weren’t even sure if they’d be able to get it fixed in time for the race at 3.10pm. With a little blood sweat and almost tears and the help of their mechanic, they managed to get the job done. a tense wait then ensued until the race…
… Andy was to start the race for the first hour and hopefully set the pace required to place in a decent position before Brett was to take over and finish the race. He was in the lead for several laps before dropping a place but after 30 minutes he was back in the lead. I was watching the live timings on my mobile phone with my heart quite literally in my mouth!
In his last lap before handing over to Brett’s capable hands, the fuel started to run out, this caused the loss of several places. They refueled and it was Brett’s turn to do his thing. He had his work cut out after a less than perfect pit stop. Refuelling took longer than expected but he soon started to cut through the pack, finally finishing in second place but top in their class!!! OMG how amazing!
To say I am proud of the two of them is a complete understatement. They have put in the most tremendous amount of work to get the car to racing standard. My boy has definitely done me proud. The endless nights and weekends alone while he’s been working on their dream, have been worth every second just to see the smile on his face today. Well done boys and here’s to an incredible first season. Hopefully this is a sign of what’s to come. x
