Abbie is my gorgeous little Italian Abarth Competizione convertible. I absolutely love my quirky little hot hatch. She doesn’t exactly reek of luxury but she is so much fun and from the sounds she makes, I’m sure she thinks she’s a baby Ferrari!
Now she isn’t fast like other hot hatches, she’s not a Fiesta ST, or a Corsa VXR, but she does have a gigantic personality. My hubby even stated once that she’s one of the best cars he’s ever driven and coming from a man who’s owned several Porches, a few BMW M3’s an M4 and a Nissan GTR to name but a few, that’s high praise indeed.
Now, as previously mentioned, She is not the most luxurious car on the planet. Don’t get me wrong, her two colour exterior and brown leather Recaro sports seats give her an instant stylish charm that unmistakably Italian and chic, but the air con is temperamental, her heaters struggle a bit with direction and you cannot see a thing out of the back when the roof is down! She also has the hardest suspension in the history of Motor vehicles or a least my back and bottom feel like she has after a two-hour stint down the motorway. I don’t really think motorway driving is what the makers of this nippy little car had in mind when designing her though so she can be forgiven for this.
My main bug bear though, is her gear knob. the gorgeous brushed chrome head is beautiful to look at, but as the Autumn weather is starting to bite, it is like holding onto a block of ice. The first item on my Christmas list therefore, will be a lovely pair of sheepskin mittens, but they need fingers so I can grip on nice and tight! Actually, I have a few things on my list, but that one would be greatly appreciated by my purple fingers brrrrrr 🙂
