Race for Life is in three weeks time and I should have started training for it weeks ago! Hence the reason for this blog. If I know I have to write this every day, then I have no choice but to keep it up! Sheer laziness is all that’s really prevented me from getting my ass into gear before now, but given the importance of the cause, I thought I ought to give myself a kick up the bum and put my running shoes on!
At 5.50am this morning, my alarm started screaming at me, but in all fairness, it wasn’t too hard to get motivated. The sun was beaming brightly through the curtains, so there really was no excuse.
I brushed my teeth but couldn’t be bothered to wash my face or even brush my hair! I knew if I hung around for too long, I would talk myself out of it!
My running gear was quickly thrown on, my hair scraped back and my baseball cap planted firmly on the top of my head. I couldn’t find the sunglasses I usually run with to complete my disguise, but who was I going to bump into really? I mean, most people I know are completely unaware that there are two 6 clocks during the day!
After a little walk, I started to jog and was quite amazed that I reached the place I had planned to get to without almost passing out! yay me! Day 1 was all done and dusted. I didn’t go far, but it was a start!
I bought the card below as a nod to my very bestest BFF and Me and our ‘un’fondness for exercise! Neither of us are keen on fitness regimes on any scale, but Race For Life is such an important cause to raise awareness of and money for Cancer Research, so even I, just once a year will make the effort. If it helps get even the tiniest bit closer to the dedicated staff at Cancer Research find a cure, then it will be worth every bead of sweat and every breathless step that I and thousands of other Women take.
