Only three people live in our house, so why, I wonder, do we have so much washing?
I am sure this is a question that many of us ask ourselves, several times a month! My faithful, now rather noisy, washing machine gets put to work pretty much every day, leaving me with a very unwelcome mountain of ironing!
Once washed, dried and ironed to within an inch of it’s life, everything gets dumped in the spare room until I can be bothered to put it away. This is the part that confuses me…
… Everything is sorted into each persons pile of pyjamas, underwear, work or school clothes and everyday clothes. I carefully pair up the socks and figure out which ones belong to each of us. But I am always left with at least 3 or 4 odd socks! Well why? Where do they go? They all go into the machine together, so what happens to them?
I have come to the conclusion, that I either have an extremely hungry washing machine, that one day will explode due to the humongous collection of soggy socks that have collected in its pipes.Β Or, someone is hiding them from me, just to wind me up! Or, We have a sock fairy! I think Id be happiest with the latter of these conclusions!
Whatever the answer is, I am convinced that the second I throw out all the odd socks that are mounting up in our spare room, the missing socks that make up the pairs will magically turn up! x

It’s the hungry machine. We have one of those too. It just wants to eat, eat and eat. I don’t know how to satiate it’s cravings. I’ve tried everything, but it refuses to listen to reason. I’m hoping one day the laundry will develop feet of it own and crawl into the mouth of the chewing beast to help with our work!
