After a scrumptious lunch with my wonderful friend, I decided to pop and see Hubby, who was busy in the Garage tinkering with his cars. When the offer of a drive in the glorious spring sunshine arose, I could hardly refuse.
I locked up my Juke, grabbed my sunnies and jumped in the bright yellow, suped up, Lotus.
The Lotus is my Hubby and his BFF’s track car. The engine has been kind of revamped so he’s been dying to show it off! I am strapped in with a three-point harness that grips me so tight that I can hardly breathe let alone wriggle about when my bottom starts to go numb! To be fair though, it’s not a bad ride at all. It’s obviously fast, given the engine upgrades and the skinny little weight of this tiny car, but it feels secure and I feel very safe in my child’s car seat style position! I am quite vertically challenged, so I can stretch out my stumpy pins and my feet still don’t touch the foot rest! See, being short does have its advantages!
The roof is down, so the sun is lovely and toasty on the tip of my nose! I tucked my hair into my scarf to prevent temporary blindness by hair hitting me in the face! This also helped to avoid the obvious ‘Brigitte Jones hair’ situation!
Finally, after a quick refuel, we return the Lotus safely to her home. I am only mildly windswept, so I agree to a ride in one of his other Babies, the Cossie!
My Hubby adores his Sierra Cosworth. His affection for this funny looking 80’s car is quite extreme. Offence can be easily caused if I say the wrong thing about her, so I jump in with a smile and buckle up!
Now I am pleasantly surprised at how comfy she is. The seats have recently been re-stuffed and recovered in leather & alcantara and I have to say, I am impressed!
The roads are busy today so we can’t go too fast, She also has a bit of a tantrum when Hubby accelerates too hard. She will be forgiven though, she is rather old! I am also assured that she is booked in for this problem to be resolved next week, so after that, she will drive like a dream!
Well what a satisfying day, lunch with my friend and a very pleasant afternoon with my Hubby in his Quirky Little Cars! x
